Nagasaki bomb site
In 1945, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, 3 days after decimating Hiroshima. These pictures are from the memorial site erected in remembrance of those who lost their lives.
Days after the bombing, water was scarce and the people of Nagasaki could do nothing but drink the tainted water. Many of these individuals perished as a result.
The statues you see were donated by different countries as symbols of hope and peace.
